The German windsurfer Gunnar Asmussen and IFCA Slalom World Champion 2013 decided to change from a cold to a warm climate this winter.

Gunnar: “After a 30 hour trip I finally arrived at the airport in Cape Town, where my buddy Basti Kördel was already waiting for me.” Basti has been in South Africa for 6 weeks and will be the perfect guide and training partner for Gunnar, for whom it is the first visits to South Africa. “The conditions have been great so far, every day 20-40 knots and big waves. We visited each spot from Witsands to Hakat, but Witsands is my favourite spot. It is perfect for big jumps, you can just fly! I have brought my Slalom gear, too and around Cape Town are some spots, which deliver perfect slalom conditions. Or if you want you can drive to the lagoon of Langebaan. Basti is the perfect training partner, because he is not only the best German on the Formula gear, but also fast on the Slalom equipment. Since I have dominated the recent slaloms in Germany, we complement each other perfectly and let’s see what we can learn from each other!
