In total 140 riders from 33 countries applied to participate in the Red Bull Storm Chase. Now 50 of them have been nominated for the online voting stage by windsurfing legend Robby Naish and his expert companions – PWA Head Judge Duncan Coombs and official PWA tour photographer John Carter.

July 2 – July 15: Top 50 Online Voting for the 10 finalists
August 1 – November 30: Contest, 3 storms
It will be really interesting to see, who will make it into the top 10. Looks like most of the qualified sailors will be top PWA sailors. It´s not easy to sail in 55 knots and show any airmoves or decent waveriding. Some of the top sailors can do it as we witnessed in Pozo last week. They even rotate through Double Forwards and over 12 meter high Backloops.
Philip Köster told us, that he is already really excited about sailing at new destinations like Tasmania or Iceland. Let´s see, which spots will be chosen for chasing the ultimate storm.
