“Brouwerseiland” is a projected gigantic island landscape at Grevelingenmeer close to the the well-known windsurfing spot Brouwersdam.
According to the local windsurfers this project will affect the wind quality at the spot. “Local politicians and entrepreneurs are determined to destroy our windsurfing spot by building the controversial “Brouwerseiland”, a holiday resort of no less than 600 hundred houses, situated on the south side of the lake “Grevelingenmeer”, directly under our surf spot. These houses will be built on artificial islands and will be 13 or even 16 metres high,” Mario Scheffers told us.

  • Fact 1: this project will eliminate all incoming west and southwest wind (the best wind directions!). The plans for the holiday resort are ready.
  • Fact 2: parking space for at least 150 to 200 cars will be lost.

The local windsurfers ask for help by protesting against this project and sendind the town council a letter to the following address: teun.van.oostenbrugge@schouwen-duiveland.nl or christine.oprel@schouwen-duiveland.nl

On Friday April 17 (9:00) will be a protest march at Zierikzee. More info: https://www.facebook.com/events/1563422777278965/
