We recently spent a great evening at the International Ocean Film Tour Volume 2 tourstop in Vienna, Austria.

“Come along, ocean lovers” is the main message in the editorial of the booklet. And the exciting show with 6 different movies impressed everyone in Austrian’s biggest lecture hall at Vienna’s main University. Almost all of the 800 seats were taken. And you are allowed to drink during the presentation.

The show started with surfing action of Matt Meola, Albee Layer & co in “Attractive distractions”. The next movie was “(R)Evolution”, an award winning movie, filmed over four years in 15 countries. Revolution captures some of the most remarkable wildlife spectacles ever recorded and Stewart looks to the evolution of life and past revolutions in order to uncover the secrets necessary to save our world.  A movie about the destruction of the ocean and the beauty of it at the same moment. A massive wake up call.

“And then we swam” was the next movie, a movie about two bloody beginners in rowing. The two Brits started in Geraldton, Western Australia and made it to Mauritius. 3500 miles, just by muscle empower. An incredible movie. And they lost almost all video footage at the last day when capsizing their rowing boat at the powerful reef breaks of Mauritius.

The second part of the show started with the wakeboard movie “Prime”, a high quality production with sensational slow motion parts. And then ….the Red Bull Storm Chase movie. The audience was indeed impressed by the incredible high jumps at Ireland or Cornwall or by the massive waves at Tasmania.

We really enjoyed watching this shortened version of the Red Bull Storm Chase and we were happy to witness such big emotions caused by a windsurfing movie and their protagonists.

The next movie was “The crystal labyrinth”, an exciting  diving film about the explorations of two caves just below the Bahamas and the second part of the surfing movie “Attractive Distractions” made the International Ocean Film Tour Volume 2 evening complete.

We’ve learnt a few things during this evening. The ocean creates their masters and we need the ocean, the sea, the lakes, the intact environment much more as we believe. If we destroy the oceans we will end up in a disaster. And if not us our next generation will struggle a lot. The water and its environment needs to be protected  much more. Water is life. Without protection the life will be much harder for the next generations.
