27 riders from 16 nations travelled to Costa Teguise on Lanzarote to compete in the second EFPT event of the season. Las Cucharas at Costa Teguise can offer a real fun park with flat water on the inside and breaking waves on the outside. And this year the organizers and competitors were lucky as the wind and waves showed up during the event period. In total two full double eliminations got finished. Day 3 saw breaking waves on the reef and the competitors were nailing Double Forwards, Air Chachoos and Antony Runes landed a Shifty: “The final heats between Ruenes/Vrieswijk and Frans/Ruenes were something else. Ruenes was throwing huge tweaked Pushloops and landed the first ever Shifty in an EFPT competition,” Hanna Poschinger (EFPT) said.

Antony Ruenes and Tonky Frans met in the final of the first and second double elimination and the event victory was decided by a super final. Tonky was not able to hold off a strong sailing Antony Ruenes. “On one port-tack run he landed a Backloop, a huge Shifty and clean Pasko. Also Tonky Frans was putting together a great heat with Spock-Culo and Funnell-combos as well as big jumps, yet he couldn’t out do Antony’s performance. The superfinal was decided 5:0 favoring the French sailor.” EFPT, Hanna Poschinger

Big congrats to Antony, Tonky and Amado, who made it on the podium. It was the first EFPT victory for Antony Ruenes, who seems to be on great form since he made it on the podium with a 2nd place at the PWA freestyle final in Sylt in 2014.
