Defi Wind 2013 – Philip Köster and Team Pryde have registered
Two-times PWA Wave World Champion Philip Köster will participate in this year’s edition of the Défi Wind from the 8th to the 12th of May in Gruissan, France. Jules Denel, Robby Swift and Steven Van Broeckoven from Team Pryde will be competing, too.
It will be interesting to see how fast the guys can go and how good their endurance is. Robby Swift (K-89) was doing really well on the PWA Race courses around the globe. He finished 13th in 2008 overall, 15th in 2009 and 18th in 2010. Then he decided to stop competing in the Slalom discipline. He as well had great results on the Super-X course and will challenge the top guys at the Defi Wind this year.
Jules Denel (FRA-41) competed on the PWA tour, at IFCA events and at the French tour successfully. He is the first season on JP/NeilPryde and knows many other competitors from France. His best overall result on the PWA Slalom tour was a 25th place in 2010. He decided to stop competing on the PWA Slalom tour in the end of 2011 as his previous sponsor Exocet wanted him to focus on teh wave discipline. And that step paid off definitely as he made it in one of the top teams in 2013.
Steven van Broeckhoven (B-72), Freestyle World Champion 2011, trained Slalom racing back home in Holland with fast guys, when he was on Gaastra. He as well attended at an RS:One event at Lake Garda. He for sure is really fit and can handle the long distance racing well at Gruissan.
Philip Köster (G-44) owns a GPS and once told us: “I accelerated my Slalom gear at Pozo far about 60 km/h and it would be interesting to have a run at Lüderitz on the channel!” Philip already attended in several Slalom competitions in Germany and on Gran Canaria. He already had great fun on the race course. He jibes very well and is not scared at all.
