Ben Proffitt injured

on 19. February, 2013 – 13:08 / 13 Comments

Ben Proffitt crashed a tweaked Pushloop and has injured his AC joint (acromioclavicular joint). We hope it heals fast and Ben does not need a surgery. What is quite sure, Ben will be off the water for a while.

Windsurf Australia has filmed his crash:

  • krischuschnig says:

Sorry for you Ben. Hope you get on the water soon…..
It seems that there was not much wind for the pushloop, is this why you crashed?

  • Blink says:

Big Ben(g) you are windsurf warrior!!! Good recory.

  • C’mon Ben…good luck…

  • that sucks… good luck !

  • Oh… :(
Good luck Ben, hope you go soon to the water

  • Broken clavicle, huh? Been there. It really sucks but there’s worse stuff!
I wish you a speedy recovery!

  • Mario says:

    I’ve got this injury too.
It’s also called Tossy 3, what means that all ligaments, which hold the clavicula down in the acromioclavicular joint are broken.
You can operate this injury but most of the doctors specially in the USA don’t operate any more (common Injury: bikers, icehockey player,…)

Do you know Levi Lavalle (famous Skidoo Freestyler)? He has this injury on both sides not operated!

  • Nils says:

Sorry to read that you’ve been injured Ben,but look at the bright sight now you can hang out all day with disastrous Dave….;)
Hope to see you soon back on the water.

  • Dimitri says:

Ben, really sorry to hear that, but if it makes you feel any better, Bjorn Dunkerbeck had the EXACT same injury onhis left shoulder in 1996 and he came back a little later in the season to win not just that year’s title, but another 3 years in a row. So, even though it looks weird and deformed, don’t lose hope.
For the record, Bjorn wasn’t operated either

  • don says:

    get well soon, bro

  • Proffitt says:

Cheers for the support guys.. Bloody annoying… but could have been worse :)
looks like i’ll have a bit of time to catch up on the training diaries!! haha..

  • georgi says:

Hope you recover for the PWA tour to show us your progress on the doubles. This is the best of the bad scenarios. Speedy recovery!
