Endless Ride, Ep. 5 – The Record
Camille and and his brother Tom Juban came to Chicama, in the Peruvian desert to beat the Guinness World Record for the longest wave ever windsurfed. The Peruvian village of Chicama is located halfway between Lima and the border of Ecuador. It is considered one of the longest waves in the world and in theory, surfers can ride a wave for 2.5 miles (4 kilometers).
After waiting quite a while (watch Episode 4), the big day for breaking the record for the longest wave ever ridden on a windsurf board has finally arrived. The swell is big, the winds are right, and everyone is in place: cameras, boats, and official witnesses.
Camille Juban beat the Guinness World Record of the longest duration wave ride on Monday 19th August 2013 at 16h24min with a time of 07min 03sec on the mythic wave of Chicama in Peru. Camille Juban’s windsurfing record has already been certified and confirmed by the Guinness World of Records.
