Ho’okipa 2012 – Video
The 2012 PWA Vice Wave World Champion Victor Fernandez finished a clip with footage from Hookipa. The Spaniard spent the last two months on Maui and just came back to Europe one week ago.
Continentseven: How was your stay on Maui?
Victor Fernández: The conditions were quite nice this year, not so windy as last year but very nice waves. I’ve been on Maui with my girlfriend and many friends, who come to Maui every winter. I love to spend more time on Maui as I end up windsurfing a lot of days at Ho´okipa. It is quite a consistent spot and every day is different.
C7: Do you feel 100% fit again, after injuring your ankle during the Night session in Sylt?
Victor Fernández: I’m not 100% recovered from my ankle injury since Sylt but I’m doing quite good. Sailing with the brace helps me a lot to avoid most of the pain, so I’m very happy to be back in the water.
C7: How will you continue your preparation for the 2013 PWA season?
Victor Fernández: I stay at home for two more weeks. We have nice conditions like 2 days ago and Saturday should be fun waves too at the spot in front of my windsurfing center, so I’m very happy to sail with my friends at home. Middle of January I’ll go to Chile for one and half months with Klaas Voget, Aleix and Eric Sanllehy. Maui and Chile is a good combination (port tack/starboard tack). That is my plan for this winter so far and I’ve got some new boards to try so looking forward to it.
C7: Any wishes for the new year?
Victor Fernández: Just be healthy and keep on windsurfing!
