Shane Dorian surfs Jaws – Video

Shane Dorian (40) recently surfed at Jaws (Peahi), when the first big swell hit Maui´s Northshore, Hawaii on the 9th of October 2012. And he did not use the help of a jetski. He just paddled in the big wave. But it looks dangerous. He had to position himself far in front of the monster when starting to paddle to get the takeoff done at the right moment. Later he was able to keep the pressure of the wave and surfed inside a big tube. Check out the 1 minute long clip! Shane retired from competition surfing on the Worldtour in 2004 and focused more and more on big wave surfing. He took the top prize at the 2008 Global Big Wave awards in California. Shane is as well known from the surfing movies “Thicker than water” or “In God´s hands”. He is part of the freesurfer team of Billabong. Enjoy the 45 second long ride in slow motion!
