Andy Lachauer in Costa Rica – Video
Andy Lachauer decided to leave the cold wintermonths in Germany and travelled to Costa Rica, Central America. Costa Rica is well known for worldclass surfing spots, like Pavones, but also has a great windsurfing spot, lake Arenal. While the wintermonths, from November till April, strong winds from eastern direction blow over the lake, which is located in the northern highlands of Costa Rica. It´s an artificial lake and the old towns of Arenal and Tonadora now lie abandoned at the bottom of the lake. Lake Arenal is 30 km long and 5 km wide at its widest point.
Jakob Winzer filmed a few sessions of Andy and the following clip is the result out of it. Andy obviously feels very much home at the sweet water lake as he sails a lot on Lake Garda or at his homespots in Bavaria.
“While the last 2 months I spent there it was windy every day. I used the 4.2 the Fly and the 88L JP Freestyle Board. Only a few days I had to put the 3.9er out and then the lake got really nice conditions for jumping. It´s for sure a nice place to go between middle of December till end of February and even 1 month longer the guys from the windurfingcenter Tico Wind told me. Thanks to Tico Wind, my sponsors and Jakob Winzer for filming! Pura Vida!” (Andy Lachauer)
