BRA Boys at Ho’okipa by umi pictures
Umi Pictures has released a new video featuring the Brazilian riders Ricardo Campello, Kauli Seadi and Marcilio Browne.
Umi: “After standing on the hill for hours and hours it became clear that the Brazilians really push the locals. Kauli is pretty much a local and kicks arse at any break he sails at from Pozo to Punta Preta. Ricardo is just radical, he can pull the sickest ride without any warning after stuffing the previous few waves. And Marcilio has made Maui his home and is one of the trick masters on the water; he is so confident and consistent it’s insane. When the Brazilians roll into town it really hots things up; not only do they rip but they force everyone else to step up their game. So here is our film showing them playing in someone else’s backyard – Brazilian style!”

seriously… what is UMI? how do make a living? or is it just windsurfing knights, providing joy and sick footage for everyones convinience? Thx UMI!!!
…and then they say that freestyle windsurfing is boring. I mean how many times can you watch someone do cutbacks and buttom turns? For me those turns weren’t even good looking or smooth. Basically this video was about some guys making the same 4 manouvres over and over again. What’s exciting about that? I mean, it’s not like i generally don’t like the wave discipline, but 9 minutes of goiters, air takas, aerials and front side 360s are just too much…much more could have been possible, i think…For me windsurfing shouldn’t just be about pulling off the sickest moves and repeat them over and over again, but also about showing how many things we can do with just a board and a sail. That would make it a lot more interesting to watch, at least for me.
I have to say though that the footage was well made and the interviews were quite interesting.
You’re really funny. At first I was wondering if you watched this movie, but I guess you did. Fair enough that you did not get the idea behind wave surfing, that’s pretty clear from your statement that the guys are doing the same 4 moves over and over again. But every wave is different, and I guess you fall asleep immediately when you watch “the real surfing” without sail…
I generally fall asleep after watching 2 minutes of freestyle. In the end, it’s a matter of taste (and your own surfing experience probably, which makes you appreciate, or not, what’s difficult and what’s rad…)

silver…….just by telling me that freestyle is more interesting than this movie, that shows how little you know about wave sailing and probably windsurfing…if you like guys without shirts walking around the beach….look for something else because umi wont provide this for u…
Nah, i like surfing and wave windsurfing. Philip Köster(variety) and Levi Siver(smoothness)are fun to watch. But here i didn’t have variation and the waveriding wasn’t very smooth.
I’ve never said that freestyle is more interesting. If i watched broeckhoven doing 10 kabikuchies, some culos and nothing else i’d also get bored. Actually i like wave and freestyle equally. Unfortunately i just never get to ride waves. So only freestyle for me, but i’d love to play with some waves

really, guys, what is wrong with you?? this is once more an amazing clip from umi! sadly we are not in surfing or snowboarding where quicksilver, red bull or some other big brand pays some 100 000 dollars to make a movie. and what is all that about freestyle or wavesailing? ricardo was freestyle champion three times, remember? browziho one time! these guys rock, and every cut back is a beauty itself

Special brazilian flavor to wavesailing. They remind me of the mythological bazilian football team with Dr.Sokrates, Eder, Falkao,Zico in the ranks.
