    Conditions look mediocre…boring…

  • spro says:

my opinion Gollito lost because the north sails for ducking moves is not so good!

  • paul says:

its cool that steven won hes realy an outstanding sailor but sorry this heat was clearly won by gollo he had better diversity and better style in this heat. same as aruba cant realy understand the judges decisions…..

Amazing Shaka all the way one handed!

Gollito is the best freestyler ever!! Steve is good as well..

  • George Greece says:

I agree.. Gollito should have won the superfinal..

  • uio says:

the judges made their desicion guys, get over it

if steven wouldn’t have won here he would have won the world title anyway because he is good in cold conditions like in sylt because he is from Belgium

  • oly says:

I don’t think winning or not winning some heats in the competition day makes you the best or not…it could have been your bad day…competitions are just for marketing and public relations…I think g\Gollito is probably the most charismatic and stylish sailor out there whereas Steven is a monster of technical skills and consistency. It is something like comparing a brasilian dancer with a german car..! No point…you just sit there and admire both!

  • nope says:

Bullshit Judging! Gollito got robbed…he won in the first few tricks. Steven rips, but it was clear as day. Gollito won

  • macy says:

can’t judge if gollito is ‘charismatic’, what i’ve seen from him and all the other caribbian kids is (sick) surfing and some awkward interiews and thats it.
sure he has a nice style on the water, especially if there is some chop, but steven’s moves look just as stylish and def more powerful.
looking forward to finally see a european on top!

You guys have to check the heats again or maybe another 10 times. There is a lot of things to learn about judging. Steven won and judges didn’t make any mistake. air flaka was sicker, burners were better, he did burner into funnel with jump not slide like Golito( even tho it was sick), Golitos burner on outside was out of the area, and he did 3 shakas which is bad for diversity… well anyway 3 or 4 moves counted each tack. Golitos shaka flaka was good and culo and skopu- which should be also out of the area and that is only thing what can match in this heat with Steven. Golito can sail sick, but lately… Steven just goes higher and more powerfull than anyone… Also Kiri has unbeatable heats, but not against Steven.

  • Al Bentley says:

their first heat was very close, but the second gollito kind messed up with the shaka then flaka. they counted as separate moves and I don’t think a generic flaka scores high…

people need to try to distance who is their fave rider from the actual scores.

  • jfk says:

no matter if shaka and flaka is counted seperatly or not. gollito had beat him already before. to mr judge. not sure who you are but if gollitos 1st burner was out of contest area then half the moves of all the contest were out due to light offshore winds. if a head judge call some moves in which were out then he has to call them in all. otherwise not to understand for any rider. or even better the headjudge should wait till the wind is fully in the contest area and not just on the boardline to the outside. he kind of forced the riders to do moves outside.

  • Penny says:

Golito sails some freetime freestyleing with Gaastra.

  • Mike Burns says:

Good to hear Gollito has tried the Gaastra sails and still prefers to ride for North:-) I try to get my hands on as many sails as possible too, just so that I still know I’m riding the right sails (north)

  • JKD says:

Steven was more powerfull and had more diversity.

  • jdk says:

not sure if you have a idea of freestyle but how you judge diversity? is it diverse to duck the sail before every move in every direction? thats for me not diverse. there i see gollito “out of the normal” moves much more diverse

  • Al Bentley says:

Just because he is riding with north doesn’t mean he prefers it.. they are probably offering him the best deal.

I’m sure mike would disagree with this but many people who have used North in the past find them difficult to duck compared to some of the other brands…
