oh all you guys are so pathetic. If everybody would criticise so much stuff like that than nobody would invent anything new. Come ooon I mean they made it and they had a lot of fun + Im sure that they will use this experience in developing new ski designs for normal use.They made it one time and it was possible so think about how it would look like if they focus on it for real.Im sure that back in the days when everything started with kite surfing all you gus were sitting with full laugh and critiscism also. Oh I forgot probably in those days all of you were focused on your LEGO set.Now kite has probably bigger market than windsurfing.
hmm, it’s nice as an experiment… I’m OK with the kite version of it but the tow-in part is not so cool if it were ever to become popular and ‘mainstream’ (but tow-in surfing isn’t either, and is ‘necessary’ if you want to ride the really big jaws-type of waves), so it probably won’t come to that but just imagine your spot with ‘normal sized waves’ being flocked with (rich?) guys and their jet-ski pilots… no link to the wind (or paddling) and just powered by gasoline…
…and if you get unlucky like Jason Polakow recently did in Jaws, and you’re wearing ski-boots: you’re dead

I had an idea to do this a while ago (I’m sure I’m not the only one!) and I think for a first try they did seriously well. Every new sport looks turd until people are well practiced and in control. look at early windsurfing for example!
Kitesurfing actually started on skis and I think there is a big potential to start using skis again instead of a board especially with freestyle/waves
you have to also think about the skis they are using – and ski boots haha – that the kit needs a lot more development. you can see on the wave that they are moving much slower than an equivilent surfer would. also that the need to lean back to get the front of the skis out the water which is never a good thing!

I’m missing the point of this “new” sport
looks unreal in some moments, but guess it´s something fresh, which shows, how many different opportunities are existing to surf over the water, can remember guys in old surfvids are ripping waves with airbeds, would think it just needs a waterskier riding a tube with some style and many people will get crazy about it
but for sure the sport needs a jetski or a boat, it´s a kind of waterskiing in waves
I think although in this video they are using tow in to catch the waves surely the real potential is using a kites so you can do the sport on your own and even without waves.
Its the same as saying if you kite in waves its a kind of wakeboarding in waves??
But pepe you are right about the wipe outs! it would fuck your knees up even worse than skiing!
It’s like in skiing, poles help with the balance, so that may be a necessary evil, more stuff, but if the basket was designed with a conical end, flat side down to resist against the water, you might be able to make better turns, and you would have better stability…just like skiing on the frozen version of H2O.

if you are skiing properly you shouldn’t be using poles to balance – they are purely a style/timing thing and for pushing on flat areas
