Björn Dunkerbeck wins Stockcar Crash Challenge 2009

Last Saturday the TV Total Stockcar Crash Challenge took place in the Veltins arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Björn Dunkerbeck could win the Rodeo class at this car race and it is said that this race is one of the toughest.

Last Saturday the Stockcar Crash Challenge took place in the Veltins arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. This car race got invented by the german showmaster Stefan Raab, and 30 celebrities from film, TV, sport, etc. were invited to push, rush, pile and pump over a sandy course. Roaring engines, smoking cars and breathtaking duels – everything was allowed, which is normally prohibited by the German traffic rules strictly. The 30 drivers competed in ten teams and three race classes (3000, 1900 and 1500 cc.) and the Rodeo Team final. The Rodeo was the last race. All roadworthy cars are allowed to take part and it lasts until only one car is left, because all other cars are broken.

INTERVIEW WITH BJÖRN DUNKERBECK

C7: Last weekend you could win the Rodeo class at the Stockcar Crash Challenge. Could you describe what it was about?

It was a great show with 45.000 spectators in the Schalke arena. The Rodeo class means, that all cars are togheter and the last car/man remaining is the champ.

C7: Was it hard it hard to win, did you have some benefit from the No-Rules concept in Slalom and what was your tactic?

Actually there were a few rules in the Stockcar Crash Challenge. You are not allowed to run into cars with are not moving and don´t drive against the traffic.
Yes, it was not easy. A bit off luck and a great car helped a lot, and a clear mind after a long day! In the end I was the only one still going !!!

C7: You are WOK worldchampion 2009 and winner in the Rodeo category of the Stockcar Crash Challenge. What will be the next highlight or will you try to defend your WOK title?

Yes, I will be in the WOK 2010 again in the TV total Team, and next year at the Stockcar Challenge again.

C7: You are working hard as well, to take the Slalom title in 2010. First of all you will develop and test new Code Reds for 2010! Are there any news?

Yes, this is right, the new Starboards are going better than ever and we already got some improved Code Red racing sails and still we have a few months to improve them.
I can´t wait to get back on the Slalom PWA tour next year (;-)))
