FW Worlds Santa Pola 2009 – 7 rounds sailed
At the this years Formula Windsurfing (FW) Worlds in Santa Pola many big names showed up: Martha Hlavaty, Allison Shreeve, Steve Allen, Ross Williams, Arnon Dagan and many more. Overall 17 ladies and 80 men are fighting for the podium.
So far the location proofed its qualities as a windsurfing spot and the wind showed up almost every day and reached more than 20 knots too days ago. 7 rounds could be sailed so far and Martha Hlavaty leads the ladies. Just in her neck sits Allison Shreeve with one point in distance.
In the men´s category Przemek Miarczynski is leading in front of Steve Allen and Alberto Menegatti.
Two more days of competition are left. The formulawindsurfing website is promising quite good conditions for today: “Sunny day – clear skies – we could be in for a great days racing. 4 more races and the 3rd discard could shake up the pack. We have had very few protests, but they have been the subject of much debate amongst the sailors.”
